Not quite Borough Market in London, but nevertheless, I enjoyed my hour here. Had a beer, Moroccan chicken and onion pastry, Berlin meatballs, Cantonese pork dumplings, and a vanilla cream puff.
There's also a free toilet there, so drink to your heart's content : Careful of the nearby U-Bahn though. There were some rough looking boys who will approach you, so my advise is to just ignore them and keep walking, preferably alongside others if you can.
I thought it might be bustling even on non-Thursdays, but it was a little slow when we were there. I had the fresh pasta which they cook up for you while you are there and it was fantastic. They had a middle eastern stand which looked good too. Everything there was high quality. It's just that a few more choices would have been nice.
I love this place - Markthalle Neun Markthalle IX in the Turkish and very odious district of Kreuzberg is the most famous and popular covered market of the three remaining in Berlin. In addition to the regularly operating grocery market, there is the Street Food Market - one of the regular, weekly events. Every Thursday in Markthalle Neun from pm there passes the Street Food Market and street food lovers gather to discover new cuisines of the peoples of the world or, on the contrary, to offer experimental, rare, sudden directions of modern stride and other flavors.
On Thursday there is a loud, fragrant and infinitely tasty. The only thing that is due to the popularity of the event is the problem of choice and queues.. Must to take cash, as they don't take credit cards. An awesome experience. A must for anyone wanting to experience a clash of culinary cultures. I love this place -- if you want to take a different dining approach, go to the Markthaklle. The experience is set in an old market hall, where food sellers adorn the floorspace selling an eclectic mix of food from Germany and around the world.
