This renovated Holiday Inn is typical better european HI with grandish lobby and posh rooms. The location, however, is maybe best for solo businessman than a family with children, as there are brothels and strip-joints around the corners in more than one direction. Still, service was top-notch and the room can't be wrong. And walk for minutes away from the southern-downtown-located hotel and there will be no sign of the red light zone any more. We have just come back from a long weekend break, the hotel is fairly new and the rooms are clean, modern and spacious.
We didn't use the restaurant so I am unable to comment on the food. The location is in the red light district of nuremberg but it is all very discreet and subtle. Unless of course you turn right out of the hotel towards the city walls around the corner where the prostiutes ply their trade from windows!
Don't be put off though this is all out of sight from the street that the hotel is situated in. There are no adverts or posters or women on view near the hotel.
The Hotel is about a 10 min stroll to the old town-the city is a real delight. People are friendly and food and drink is relatively cheap. I would recommend the hotel. Don't let the location put you off, you won't even notice!! Used Holiday-Inn points for a two-night stay. Pleasantly surprised by the newness of the hotel. Reserved a suite to be occupied by four adults. Bedroom with king-sized bed had doors you can close but the pull-out couch was pretty small for the two other adults.
Bathroom and shower was very nice! Bring your own toiletries as they provide standard Holiday Inn fare. While there's a mini-"red light district" if you turn right when walking out of the hotel, turn left and you will be fine. Hotel is located just inside the old walled part of the city. You will find nice stores and gelato in the streets behind the hotel. The historic area is well within walking distance. Park the car! The "oldest German restaurant" within the city is about a block away and has pretty good food.
