For what it's worth, this article has some background on the name. It's on the internet so it must be true. That is what I understood it to mean anyway - I'm not sure how it could be interpreted differently!
Well, the place would be nothing without the name. The name serves the marketing purpose of attracting attention to an otherwise boring - run of the mill menu. If it was named "Coddled Eggs in a Jar" it would not have survived this long. I'm a female and am not particularly offended by the name, but the menu seems quite boring. It seems like they're hoping the name alone will make them a success. A lot of you guys are talking of this place with a "boring menu" or a name that will "put people off" but are seeming to miss the fact that this restaurant is hugely successful in L. I'd understand the critiques if this were some place made up simply for the Cosmo by the Cosmo like Va Benne or something but it's success in LA is exactly what was able to have it land a primo spot in a primo hotel.
If the name puts you off, that's fine, but there IS more to this place than just an imprudent name. It's a hit in L. However, the complaint that "it's another L.
